January STAGE Meeting Minutes |
| |
WELCOME GAME: Jonathan G introduced our game meeting this week with everyone’s all time favorite game Babies New Year! Each officer brought in one of their baby pictures and everyone at the meeting had to guess who was who. And our lucky winners were Kaitlyn P and Raven M!
TALENT SHOW: Jordan was offered the privilege to inform everyone about our annual Talent Show that is coming up at the beginning of February. And we are doing things a little differently this year. We are asking all organizations around our school to submit an act to perform in our talent show. But if you would still like to submit an individual act than we would love to see what you can do. If you would like to audition for Talent Show than auditions will be Jan. 30th and Jan. 31st with a special screening for sponsored organizations on Feb. 1st.
UIL CAST: Jacqui announced our UIL show for this year which is A Lie of the Mind by Sam Shepard. The cast and crew involved in that production was so wonderfully recognized for their achievement and reminded that rehearsals and workshops are coming up so keep your eyes open.
NON-COMP CAST: Lexie announced our two Non-Comp shows this year which are The Boys Next Door by Neil Simon and As It Is in Heaven by Arlene Hutton. The cast involved in both of these productions were so wonderfully recognized for their achievement and reminded that rehearsals and workshops are coming soon, so keep your eyes open!
ADOPT A FAMILY: Leann updated everyone on our little competition we had last semester for our Adopt a Family charity. We as a group raised close to 600 dollars and we could all sleep happy knowing that a family was able to have a wonderful Christmas that year. As you remember we had made a competition with the officers that whoever raised the lowest amount of money would receive a pie in the face from the person who raised the largest amount of money. And our loser was Grant who will receive a pie in the face from our winner Jonathan D at our February STAGE Meeting. You don’t want to miss that!
PICTURES: With the new year brings a new opportunity to take pictures, or bring pictures in, but not look at our pictures because we don’t have any… at all. Jonathan told everyone that we are desperate for pictures and we know that all of you take them. So if any of you could be so kind as to bring in any pictures, any pictures at all, Jonathan G said he will do anything and everything to get them.
ENGLAND/SCOTLAND TRIP: There is this place in a far off land called England. And England’s best friend who is not too far away from him is Scotland! And I am pretty sure they would both really enjoy it if you could go visit them this summer with our theatre troupe! If you are still interested in going to England/ Scotland this summer it is still not too late! See Cottom if you have any further questions.
NOS SUBMISSIONS/AUDITIONS: Chris gave our a friendly reminder about NOS this year. If you are planning on directing a show this year, you need to submit your chosen or completely original play to Ms. Merritt by Jan. 18th. If you are planning on acting in NOS then you will have auditions, immediately following our February STAGE meeting on February 7th. Make sure you’re prepared.
CHILDREN’S DAY CAMP: Our fundraiser that we will be doing this year is a Children’s Day Camp. The way this will work is that we are inviting kids to come to a workshop type of camp on Feb. 18th. Kids will be taking part in many different activities such as mask making and theatre games. Hopefully this will get more kids interested in theatre so they can join our troupe once they get into high school. Plus, raising money for our department is always a plus! If you have any questions about wanting to volunteer for the camp, etc, please ask Aimee.
LETTER JACKETS: Grant was able to give some people their letter jackets and blankets at this STAGE Meeting. If you see Meghan Yockey, Matt Robertson, or Matt Cole please congratulate them on their letterman status!
FORMS: Because it is the start of a new year and we have some new students in our department, Jonathan D wanted to make a friendly reminder to get your forms in. If you have any questions about forms please ask Jonathan D.
STAGE H.A.N.D.S.: Jonathan G encouraged everyone to tell their parents about our wonderful STAGE H.A.N.D.S. meeting we had that nice and how much he would love for all parents to come!
SUGGESTION BOX: Leann wanted to remind everyone to not be shy about using her folder as a suggestion box. So if you have any comments about what you would like to change the department please leave a note in Leann’s officer folder.
SPECIAL REC: We had some special winners this month along with our special rec. We had Travis K. and Meghan Y. who were recognized for their outstanding work in the department. And then instead of our normal Top Gear awards we gave away two special awards for an overall semester work and gave away the Golden Gear awards to Joe D. and Jordan B. Good job you guys!! |
